Villa Lo Scalco is an ancient 17th century stone farm-house surrounded by green and stillness of nature. Situated in the heart of Trentino, Cembra Valley offers visitors  the calm but impressive  scenery of an area that is still completely natural and waiting to be discovered.

Predominant in the local scenery is the characteristic terracing used for the cultivation of vines, as well as woods, lakes and streams all of which offer glimpses of unparalleled beauty, to the extent that the famous German artist Albrecht Durer was so totally captivated  by it that he painted many of these places during his journey to Italy in 1496. Today these watercolours are kept in  major museums in Oxford, Brema, Milan and Berlin. In this land of farming tradition, wines and distillates of the finest quality are produced, which can be purchased from the many cellars in the area. Pinot, cabernet, chardonnay, muller turgau are some of the types of grape that grow best on the steep slopes of this valley.

Whover loves strolling and trekking has a multitude of choice: Durer’s path,  the wine and  flavour road, the E5 European path as well as  about sixty recognized walks that meander between villages, woods and meadows. Of varying difficulty and length, these paths feature resting areas, and can be enjoyed by walkers, horse-riders and mountain-bikers.  Some features which are of particular interest and are rare geological phenonoma, caused by water erosion, are the Segonzano pyramids, a real work of art of nature. 

Close by this natural beauty, the area invites historical and cultural itineries including visits to local castles, churches and sanctuaries. Finally, for those wishing to relax completely and enjoy nature at its best,  many of the numerous lakes in the area provide an ideal setting for bathing and  fishing. The Avvisio River also authorizes fishing. 

The River Avisio runs along the valley, which winds for about 50km from Lavis to Castello di Fiemme, at 300 to 900 metres above sea-level. It is situated 20km from Trento and 50km from Bolzano
